We value each volunteer and strive to provide a positive experience. Every attempt is made to ensure that your volunteer service is successful and fulfilling. We will attempt to ensure that you are:
- Welcomed, respected, and appreciated;
- Involved in meaningful activities;
- Knowledgeable about The Delores Project;
- Trained and informed about your volunteer role;
- Responded to in a timely manner;
- And given consideration for your suggestions and concerns.
New volunteers must complete the volunteer onboarding process outlined below prior to volunteering onsite.
As members of our community, we ask you to commit to volunteering once a month.
Group leaders are required to participate in our full onboarding process, share all appropriate information with each member of your group, and attend the scheduled volunteer shift(s) with your group.
Group members are required to complete a volunteer application, submit your vaccination record, and register for your spot under the group reservation. Group members are encouraged to attend orientation, though it is not required.
Step One: Tell us about you!
Complete our volunteer application.
Step Two: Submit your COVID vaccination record.
Starting October 1, 2021, all eligible individuals must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (or a valid medical exemption) in order to volunteer onsite.
Step Three: Complete an interview with the Volunteer Program Manager.
This brief interview is an opportunity to get to know one another, chat about our volunteers opportunities, and make sure we're a good fit!
Note for groups: If you are part of a group, this is only required for group leaders.
Step Four: Attend new volunteer orientation.
You'll learn about who we are, what we do, who we serve, and expectations for volunteers. In-person and virtual sessions are available.
Note for groups: This is only required for group leaders. Group members are encouraged to attend if you'd like!
Step Five: Sign up for volunteer shifts.
Once you've completed the onboarding process, please register for the volunteer shifts that fit your schedule on our Event Calendar.
Note for groups: Each confirmed date will be reserved for your group, and the reservation link will be emailed to the group leader. Group members must register for your spot using the reservation link for your group.
