Letter from the Executive Director

Dear Friends of The Delores Project:

On behalf of the Board of Directors of The Delores Project, I am very pleased to introduce to you our new Executive Director, Terrell Curtis.  Terrell brings us significant experience with Denver’s homeless through her eight years of service at The Gathering Place, most recently as their Director of Communications.  Please feel free to contact her if you have any questions or would like further information about our program. .

As you may know, we opened the doors of our new facility this past December.  It provides a safe, comfortable and attractive haven for our guests.  We appreciate the hard work of our Interim Executive Director, Christine Hager, who oversaw the challenging task of moving The Delores Project into its new home, and we wish her well.  As always, we appreciate the consistently dedicated and caring service of our staff.

This is an exciting time for The Delores Project.  We are committed to caring for the homeless women of Denver and we invite you to continue your support of this important work.

Sincerely,

Cynthia R. Smith
President, Board of Directors
The Delores Project

To Our Supporters and Friends:

I am very proud to have been selected to serve as Executive Director of The Delores Project.  As Cynthia Smith tells you in her letter, I come to The Delores Project with a deep commitment to women in Denver who are homeless.  At The Gathering Place, I became intimately familiar with the challenges faced by women who could easily be my mother, sister or aunt.  These women are in need of a caring community; the mission of The Delores Project meets that need and meets my own desire to guide such an organization in fulfilling its vital work

In the past few weeks, I have been impressed with the commitment and expertise demonstrated by Delores’ stakeholders.  The Board of Directors has been more than diligent in its management of a major construction project, while continuing to ensure that daily operations continued as seamlessly as possible.  The staff is unwavering in their dedication to the organization and most certainly to the women they support each night.  Our volunteers have remained steadfast during several moves and are integral to our program by providing the majority of evening meals for 50 women seven nights a week.  Our financial supporters continue their commitment to our daily operations after giving many generous gifts to purchase and renovate our new home.  I am truly blessed to lead an organization with such strength and devotion at its core.

Homelessness in Denver is changing; The Delores Project is poised to respond to these changes with the same energy and compassion that you have helped to secure since our founding.  In the coming months, I will share with you our thoughts and dreams for our future.  Now that Delores is ‘home’, the opportunities for new or enhanced programs seem almost endless.

It’s been a pleasure to meet some of our supporters already, and I look forward to getting to know many more of you soon.  I welcome your inquiries, by phone or email, and would be more than happy to show you our new home.  Thank you for your ongoing partnership in our mission to ensure a safe place for women.

Sincerely,

Ms. Terrell Curtis
Executive Director
